Hello, friends! I have been
gone (busy is the word, busy) for awhile but now, there’s a pandemic which means it’s the perfect time to deposit my two cents into the large Bank of Internet Opinions.
COVID-19. I wonder what this will look like when it becomes a paragraph in a history book or a reflection in biomedical studies. Even if we do not follow mainstream media’s lead, we still attach our own version of meaning to what’s going on in our world right now.
Many have taken to artfully written scientific explanations and beautifully crafted conspiracy theories. Others have taken to fanciful dystopian stories or alternative medicine advocacy and even, scary end times prophecy. There are theories, there are numbers, there are facts, and there are opinions.
Some false, some valid. Judging by the response to this mess, I don’t think any one person actually knows what is truly accurate about this virus.
The only true thing we have is God’s Word.
Whether we are dealing with wicked nature, mad scientists or population control, our fight is not against flesh and blood.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
As long as we live before Jesus’ return, there will be a war between good and evil. New histories made or repeated–plagues, war, and famine–by the evil powers touching the world.
Yet, while we are in the world, we are not of the world. This is not advice to ignore circumstance but instead to check in with the state of your spirit. Keep sound judgment and maintain your eyes on our salvation. Should the sting of death come near you, you still wait for the Lord and eagerly so.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes.
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
What does your heart feel?
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Tribulation is sure to come and to make us anxious but Jesus has overcome the world. I like when Charles Stanley says, “either God is a liar or His word is true.”
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
If I believe this- if we believe this then we would live by it.
Let us not indulge our hidden fears by writing our own script of medi-conspira-revelation.
The prophecy has already been written! Let us look at the Author who has already told us everything we need to know.
1 John 4:3-4
but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
Children of God, we have overcome because the One who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world!
