Big Plans for Today (it’s 2019!?)

I’m probably not the brightest crayon in the box for this but I was planning on painting the “baby’s room” today. My aunt actually just told me I’m not allowed to do that, because paint fumes. I truthfully didn’t even think about that…terrible, right? She told me to get some rest and listen to my midwife, who told me to keep my feet elevated.

So that’s what I’m reluctantly doing today. I wanted to paint the room because I feel useless when I do nothing. Sitting around relaxing actually makes me anxious, makes me think I’ve got no values. Working on something feels good, being productive feels good, accomplishing a task feels great. I put myself through a bunch of self-imposed tests the past week and a half as I organized my goals and plans for the new year. Of course, I’ve scheduled things on my to-do list to check off. And I’ll be ignoring them all! AGH!

I guess that’ll have to wait. When I told my Titi that I feel useless, she said “so feel useless! Pretty soon you’ll be busy and that’s forever.”

Well, then. Yes, that’s quite true. I’ll never not be a parent, again.

While I sit on the couch, cuddled with my dog, I find that writing a blog might help me feel a little more productive. Let’s talk about the ‘plans’ for the baby’s room, which I’m so excited for. Hopefully everything will turn out just right. I’ll share before and after photos when the time comes because those are always fun.

Technically, she’s not getting her own room. Her crib will be in my bedroom, which has already been under construction for a more softer and lighter feel. Most of the work has been done there but the decor is lacking.

The room that my wonderful grandfather will be painting for us, is actually my little brother’s old room. Sadly, Miss Baby’s uncle moved out and is becoming a responsible grown man (that’s not so sad after all). Plus, we’ve now got room to house all of her clothes, books, bathing supplies, etc.

This second room is going to be her play room and my craft room. While she’s tiny, it’ll be the room with her swing and play pin. I’m hoping to monitor her during naps as I sketch or write or read. As she grows, it’ll be the place where we explore stories and play with crayons. Our little bonding bungalow. I’m not sure how soon we will be able to get it done, but I’m hoping on creating a cozy reading nook in one of the corners.

I’m so excited to see the final color, it’s called Misty Aqua! I’ve got sample paints of other colors because I will be adding girly designs to the wall. I’m nervous for that part but I love doodling with paint so let’s hope for the best.

My vision for both rooms is a clean, airy and adorable environment.

A place where anyone would feel comfortable but really speaks to the heart of an adventurous little girl. Decorated femininely enough to enliven the spirit but simple enough to inspire worlds of imagination.

I feel like a benchwarmer because I’m not actually working on the room today but it means something to be the mastermind, right? Hah.

I sincerely look forward to organizing and arranging and SHARING the final product.

But, today, I will just kick my feet up, read something nice…and eat 🙂

Psalm 127:2

“…For so He gives His beloved sleep”

Okay, maybe that’s a little out of context but I enjoy it either way. I’ve been making a baby for 8 months, I’m allowed to rest today.

With love,

Mama X

  1. A family working together is a blessing to any observer. I was the observing Gr Grandma this time… watching Gr Grandpa paint the rooms and seeing Grandma, Grandpa, and Titi put all that furniture together with such joy! So heartwarming.

  2. TiTi’s are so smart! Full of wisdom – because we’ve been through it already. 🙂
Bonding Bungalow 🙂 I loVe it! These are the most cherished moments for you and all of us, but especially for Miss Baby!
Well, Mama X – supervising and establishing direction for this room is a lot of work. So sit back, feet up, have some grapes – snuggle with Trouble and give the order. Your wish is our command today. Can’t wait to help decorate – can’t wait to hold Miss Baby, I think we’ll have to have reserved times with her. There are too many of us and one of her… hehehehe.
Okay so last night, I had a dream that I gave birth to a baby (0_0) Oh my gosh crazy right!?!
