I’ve finally submitted my last and final undergraduate assignment this morning! The relief felt oddly painful. No, really, my heart rate accelerated and I was getting a little warm. Completion anxiety? Is that a thing?

In any case, I am quite excited to have fought back against the obstacles that have deterred my course. Many of them being my own ignorance and self-sabotage. Our distractions, hurdles, and struggles manifest in different ways. But that is why we set long-term goals, so we can learn perseverance and understand the meaning of delayed gratification.

It’s bittersweet because I won’t be walking across the stage with the other graduates, those type of events actually seem to aggravate me. Too many people, bright lights, and a whole lot of talking. I won’t get to have those cap’n’gown photos like everyone else, but the money that would’ve been spent on those things are going towards baby. The hardest part about all of this is that I won’t feel done done until that diploma reaches my house.

I am done, though.

School is lovely. School is hard. School is everything and nothing. But it is surely something.

I will be spending time learning the new world of babies, poop, and irregular sleep routines but now, I can switch all my focus to the home. It’s funny, I feel like now that I am done with school I can fully embrace being a mother. I haven’t delivered yet but I already understand how tough it must be for moms who have to leave the house and work a lot. I am so looking forward to the first couple months of pure bonding. And I am already dreading and tearing up about the moment I will have to leave her to start working.

Single mama is going to have to be provider. Thank God for the Latin matriarchy though, I’ve got so many wonderful ladies around that are going to help me raise this little one.

Back to the present, though… As I patiently wait for baby’s arrival, I get to organize all of her things, redecorate the room, and make some cute crafty things. All of which, I plan on recording here on the blog. My writing style tends to be a bit academic or opinion-based but I am hoping to make some room here to actually share my mommy journey.

I am a creative person and that’s originally why I started here. The opinions will never end but now that school is over, I get to share more sides of me with you! I don’t plan on bombarding the blog but I think some planned variety would be good. You know, some recipes, crafts here and there mixed in with my weekly “lesson.”

Ahh so, this week, I plan on sharing the baby shower photos! Which did not require a heck of a lot of planning but there was definitely creative direction involved. I am excited to open up my softer sides here on the blog and I hope you all enjoy it with me.

With love,
Mama X

I am a Hopemade Woman because I hope for the promise of life through Jesus. This hope is what drives me! I am a creative romantic with big dreams of successfully merging the homemaker life, the blogger life and a spicy dash of the entrepreneurial life. What can I say? I like to juggle and that is okay--I am learning at all times, as you'll soon find out. I blog to share this hope with other women and mommas.
